Barnt Green Sailing Club
Barnt Green Sailing Club is one of the premier sailing clubs in the West Midlands and membership is open to all categories. We are also affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association and are both an RYA Training Establishment and RYA Champion Club.
As a family friendly Club, we would like to welcome you to the Club and feel sure that whether you are an experienced sailor or a newcomer to the sport, everyone will gain a great deal should you decide to join us. Much of our activity is centred on racing but we also encourage informal sailing outside the racing programme and have a paddleboarding section who enjoy the use of the water and scenery.
Our sail training programmes are available to adults, as well as juniors, and although age restrictions apply, powerboat courses for everyone’s safety. On completion of all the courses delivered, appropriate certificates are issued.

The Club was one of the first within the UK to achieve the status of RYA Champion Club and to maintain this status, the facilities and training at the Club are regularly reviewed and inspected by the RYA. We are committed to supporting the RYA Youth Classes (including Cadets, Optimists and Lasers), to running race training courses, and to increasing the numbers of instructors and Club racing coaches. Members are encouraged to own their own dinghy or sailboard but initially, to get you on the water we have a selection of Club boats, both single and doublehanded if you are new to the sport, although paddleboarders do need to possess their own equipment.
Historically, the Club raced specific classes of dinghy namely, Lark, Solo, Enterprise, Laser and sailboards for adults, and Cadet and Optimist for Juniors. However, we now run our races on an Average Lap basis which enables a member to sail any class of boat and removes restrictions. May we refer you to the Club’s own website to gain the full details of the Organisation and to view the weekly sailing programme, which officially is a Sunday and Wednesday evening, depending on the time of year. Alternatively, we would invite you to call in on a Sunday between 11.00am and 5.00pm to speak to a member and view the facilities.
