Barnt Green Waters, the associated Clubs and Groups were delighted to receive visitors to the Open Day on the 17th May.
We were able to show off our hidden paradise and for the visitors to see and potentially experience the various membership activities on offer including, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and the Friends of Bittell natural history Group. In addition, the Birmingham Running and Triathlon Club were present for anyone wishing to discuss organised open water swimming on a Thursday evening during the summer months.
There was something for everyone and great interest expressed, to the point that some of the visitors becoming members on the day.
We were also able to welcome our local Member of Parliament, Bradley Thomas MP who spent more than an hour with us learning of the damage and effects on the ecology that house building would cause on the greenbelt land adjacent to the SSSI.
